The year 2014 brings yet another unique distinction for Hyderabad as the city features in an exclusive list of travel destinations recommended for 2015. According to the annual issue of National Geographic’s Traveler magazine, Hyderabad has emerged as the second best place to visit in 2015.
The list of the “Best of the World-20 Places you should see in 2015”, was topped by the presidio in San Francisco and included unique travel destinations such as the National Mall in Washington, Corsica, Zermatt in Switzerland, Koyasan in Japan, Maramures in Romania and Oklahoma city.
Hyderabad, with its rich cultural heritage is a fine fusion of the grandeur of the past and the trappings of a modern, technologically vibrant society. It carries the legacy of the rule of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the Nizam of Hyderabad once considered the richest man in the world. Many centuries co-exist here; where the old city with its opulent architecture and quaint bazaars jostles with the software drive hi-tech enclaves and the dazzling array of shops, eateries and entertainment hubs in emerging Hyderabad.
Besides the timeless historical monuments like the Charminar and the Golconda fort, Hyderabad is also home to the spectacular Taj Faluknamma Palaces and the Chowmahallah Palace (which also hosts mushairas and concerts) museums, lakes and gardens.
